Riot in Igando as angry mob tries to lynch a Hausa trader who killed a bus driver over N30
There was riot and protest in the Igando area of Lagos State on Monday over the killing of a 30 year old bus driver identified as Lekan Adeleke by a 40 year old Hausa trader identified as Ibrahim Adamu.
Residents and friends of the late victim, Adeleke, chased away all the Hausa traders in the community as they threatened to kill them as revenge.
The suspect was however rescued by police operatives from the Igando police division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Olatunji Ajimuda, who eventually stormed the area to restore peace.
The police also took away the corpse of the late bus driver to a mortuaty.
According to reports, the reason for the problem was N30. Late Adeleke had reportedly bought N230 noodles from the son of the Hausa trader around 10:30pm on Sunday.
He gave N200 and promised to balance N30 the following day which was Monday. But the son probably didn’t agree with Adeleke and he (the Hausa trader’s son) reported the matter to his father, who got angry over the N30 balance and attacked Adeleke with a spiked plank.
Adeleke reportedly slumped and hit his head on a concrete edge of a gutter
