President
Muhammadu Buhari, will surely miss the Minister of Environment, Amina
Mohammed, who is set to officially quit the cabinet, come February 28,
Post-Nigeria gathered.
The Minister will resume as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, UN, on March 1.
Amina’s appointment was announced in December last year, by the new Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres.
Amina’s resignation is coming at a time when her boss, Buhari, was ferried to London, for a medical vacation.
“Amina
will quit Buhari’s cabinet on February 28. The President will surely
miss her, especially now that the Federal Government is making frantic
efforts to restore clean up of the Niger Delta, especially the Ogoni
Land. We wish her well in all her endeavours,’’ a Presidential source
said.
The
exit of Amina, who hails from Gombe State, will bring to two, the
number of vacancies that would exist in the present cabinet of President
Buhari.
Recall,
that the first vacuum in the cabinet was created in March 2016, by the
demise of the former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chief
James Ocholi (SAN), who was nominated from Kogi State.
