I never spoke to anyone about Buhari’s return – Lai Mohammed

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has denied ever speaking or making any statement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s return.
The minister was reacting to a news report on the internet quoting him as saying that President Buhari’s jets were undergoing routine service and could possibly hamper his return home as earlier announced by the government.
But the minister in a statement he released Sunday evening through his Special Assistant, Segun Adeyemi denied the alleged report, describing it as fake.
He said, “Our attention has been drawn to a report quoting the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as saying the President’s return to Nigeria may be hampered by a faulty aircraft.
“The Minister has not spoken to anyone on the issue of the President’s return, hence this report is another from the stable of the purveyors of fake news and should be disregarded.”
Mohammed’s denial of the report came a few hours after Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publication, Mr. Femi Adesina, announced an extension of the ailing president’s vacation in the United Kingdom.
